Your Award-Winning Dining Service Program has established itself as a leader in collegiate food service since 1987; The numerous awards and accolades clearly show that the department has soundly, willingly, and gladly established a tradition of excellence for its customers and will continue to do so throughout the years to come.

Under the direction of J. Michael Floyd, the University of Georgia Food Services has the national record of achieving more Horton Awards than any other college food service operation in the nation. The director has a career total of 77 Hortons (including nine that his operations earned while he was the Director of Food Services at Valdosta State College).

The National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) has awarded the University of Georgia both the First Place and the coveted Grand Prize for our Standard Menu, as well as various awards in recognition for special events such as "Dinner on the Wild Side."

In 2001, our Director of Food Services was one of five to receive a FM Leadership Award from Food Management Magazine.

As of today, we have received a total of 76 national awards for excellence for our student meal plans. In addition, Restaurants & Institutions Magazine recognized UGA Food Services as the most outstanding institutional food service operation in the nation for 1995, with the prestigious Ivy Award.

UGA Food Services won third place in the institutional category in the National Restaurant Association's annual "Best Menu Design" contest for 1998.

The department is consistently recognized as one of the top 20 college food service programs in the nation by The Princeton Review, whose rankings are based on student satisfaction surveys.

The University of Georgia was recognized in 2002 as the Food Service Operator of the Year with the Silver Plate Award.

In 2005 the department was recognized by Food Management Magazine with the Best Concept Award for the best special event in the nation for its special event, "Tango Argentina"

In 2006, the Bulldog Café's Chick-fil-A was recognized with Chick-fil-A's Highest Operational Excellence Award for all college and university campus locations.
